445 that the property be purchased by the Government; that a lease # for 75 years, renewable at a re-assessed rental for a like period, be granted to the Directors of the Young Men's Christian Association for the blue edged portion for the sole purposes of a Young Men's Christian Association; and that the remaining area comprising 4,500 square feet be reserved for Government purposes.

7.

The Government possesses hardly any

land in the Central part of the town and the acquisition of this property for future purposes will be most acceptable.

The share of the existing rant to be apportioned to the plot proposed to be granted to the Young man's Christian Association amounts to only 8104 per annum.

I would suggest that in the circumstances this Crow

Ront be raised to say $600 per annum.

8.

Till the Young Hen's Christian Associn- -tion are in a position to build the houses on the property can continue to be let by the Government at existing or revised rentals if lenses fall in.

9.

In conclusion I have only to add that the Colony can wall afford the expenditure recommended, and that I shall be obliged for your decision by telegraph as the option to purchase is only open for 3 months from the 3rd.

I have consulted my Executive Council who

concur in the proposals I have made.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient,

humble servant,
